My wife got me this cabinet a few years ago. I've not used it much since I haven't worked on alot in the shop lately. However while rebuilding the mil's rear end a few weeks ago I wanted to blast the diff cover and paint it since I was waiting on parts anyway. I turned on the air to it and put the part in the cabinet but couldn't get any media to come out of the nozzle. Any thoughts. Got the media from harbor freight with the cabinet. Its aluminum oxide.

Was thinking maybe the media has absorbed moisture while sitting and is clogged up?
Maybe the gun has a valve or something stuck from sitting for so long?

Any suggestions on things to try are welcome

My bet is on moisture. I have the same cabinet. Remove the suction hose and try cleaning it out.

Put you hand over the nozzle and try to use back pressure to clear the pick-up.

Also yes moisture could be an issue after it has set that long.

Moisture got mine too. I bought mine at a yard sale and the po had used what looked like play sand in it. Cleaned it all out and put in the recommended blast media. I also put a can of damp rid in it when I store it because it barely gets used.

Mine is still fairly new and my media (aluminum oxide) is fresh, but a big can of desiccant like I use in my safe might not be a bad idea. A cloth bag of rice will work in a pinch.

Will putting a desiccant in it now pull the moisture out or is it probably trash.

I tried putting my hand over the nozzle the other day and had no luck with that.

I pulled mine apart and cleaned it with some pipe cleaners

Maybe this is a sign that you need to work in the shop a little more :flipoff2:

We have huge amounts of 1 pound desiccant bags here at work, they come in some materials we buy. If you need any I can grab some :)

Which begs the question why do they all have to say " Do Not Eat".... fuck'n ppl....
