Hibachi cooking question/aragatos etc..

Hibachi chicken...just before the cook serves it, he adds/squirts some kind of sweet sauce on it and sautes it for a moment...

What is that sauce?

I dont think its teriyaki or soy. .
 
So, the name of the restaurant is "thank you" ? Weird...

I do love Japanese food though.
 
Probably Tare, which is soy sauce and brown sugar and rice wine and garlic and stuff. It's goooood. I haven't been to a Hibachi place in years, but I've had a few really good Tare sauces at Japanese places.

Could be Hoisin though. They're both dark colored, if that's a clue.
