I have been using the standard hallogen kc,s for years, I have been wanting to upgrade and now have an excuse since one is out.

Hid is more expensive as far as I can see, Led,s longevity is great, or at least it has been for with forklifts.

Which would you suggest and why, Keep in mind these are going to be focused downward in front of the jeep, bumper mounted, not looking to see 2 miles down the road.

While I don't have them, I have seen them. LED's are the way to go. I have not seen a brighter light than the LED's. While some have a hefty price tag, there are some that are reasonable. For me, the draw(no pun intended) for LED's is the light they produce and the amp draw on your charging system. For many years, I have used Halogen lights. To get the amount of light needed for off road, and for rock lights, the amp draw eventually brought my volt meter down to 12V or less, even with a 160 amp alternator, and dual batteries.
LED's all the way

LEd's will be brighter but do not project as well.

i have some hid offroad lights on the front of my truck to use as high beams (single stage hid headlights so no high beam there) love em! the offroad lights project everywhere with the eurobeam design. I also have a single 16w led flood on the front of my tractor and it is wonderful for close up work and is VERY bright, for what you are looking for that would be it. i got them at tractor supply for 59 dollars and are an inch and a half thick at most

PM trailtoy83 on here. I got a great deal on an 8" led light bar from him....

Have you seen the prices of those damn things?!! ^

If you look around you can get them for around $160 for the regular Flood or Spot Dually's . The thing is you get what you pay for with LED's. I've only found one other manufacture besides the big guys (Rigid, Vision X, Baja Designs) that has really been worth a dam. They are the Aurora's but they are hard to find and in the end not that much cheaper then Rigid which they are about an exact copy of.

Jason doesn't have a bucket so to put some Harbor Freight lights on it would be silly. They are not for everyone but they are worth it to me since they have a lifetime warranty and are built here in the US. They are also pretty much unbreakable so they are gonna last as long as your vehicle.
