So to wrap this up, we only got one day on the trails. Thursday we hiked Pilot Mountain. Parked at the bottom and took Grindstone Trail to the top and Little Pinnacle Overlook. The hawk migration was in full swing and we saw many hawks riding the thermal updrafts. It was pretty cool to watch. Then we took Jomeokee Trail to Ledge Spring Trail to Grindstone Trail back to the parking lot. According to my Garmin fitness tracker, we hiked 8+ miles, 18,991 steps, 89 flights of stairs, 263 cardio minutes and 2641 calories burned. After all that we shot up to Mount Airy and hit The Loaded Goat to refuel - a couple of beers and a bacon cheeseburger! I will make it a point to get to the other hikes suggested by y'all.
