Hit bambi on I-85 at full speed in Hillsborough. Fawker ran across in front of me from the median at full tilt. Just caught his ass so fortunately all I did was crunched my passenger side front fender on the TJ. Hood is fine, suspension fine, bumper is fine. It could have been much worse considering my speed. I am pricing parts tonight. It's a stock TJ so I don't think any flat fender ideas will look decent on this jeep. Sooooo......

I don't mean this to be a WTB thread BUT does anyone have a pass side front TJ fender they want to sell?

If not, my question is what is a good source for a new fender if I can't source a used OEM fender? Do the aftermarket ones fit worth a crap or am I better to just search for a factory one? A brand or vendor would be much appreciated.

Hope this is the right place for this post, if not mods please move where it should be.

Thanks

my limited experience, stay away from aftermarket, they don't fit the TJ's well. Find a rust free used one and paint it to match.

Jerry Johnson motors in Winston is where I've bought several body panels from. Price is always cheap and quality has always been good.

Thanks. I called them (jerry johnson), nothing. Damn. I called Marsh Jeep salvage, who had a shit ton of fenders listed on Car-part.com and they said Oh, we use them to build wranglers ourselves. Well what the fuck, take the shit off the innerweb then damn it. I called all over from Winston to Charlotte to Washington NC and can't find a used OEM pulled part fender. Well, I did find a couple but they said they are barrel rolled and not something I wanted (several were pretty nice to talk to). Several offered to get me an aftermarket but I'm not quite ready to go that way yet. There's a couple on e-bay but from the PA, RI, NJ area so they are gonna have rust. My TJ is totally rust free so I don't want that shit on there. Still looking if anyone has some more ideas or a buddy with one to sell.

If you're gonna hit a deer, the head/neck area is better, you ruin a bunch of good eatin when you hit them in the azz :D...........sounds like you were lucky it didn't come through the windshield or go under the front wheel, might have rolled your Jeep @ highway speed.

There is a junkyard in the Asheboro/Siler City area that I got a hood, windshield frame, and door several years ago for my TJ. They drove me out to the jeeps, they had about 15 of them in a row, told me to tell them what I wanted, and within 20 minutes they had the parts removed and in the bed of my truck.
Sorry I don't remember the name of it, but there can't be that many in that area.

Marsh Auto Parts?

I've gotten a thing or two from them before. I don't know where they keep the Jeeps, but their truck yard was just north of Siler City.

Called them (marsh). Blew me off. They had several listed on car-part.com but said they aren't really for sale as they use to build wranglers themselves. No idea wtf that's all about but no part for me. Maybe drive down in person will fair better if they have some??

Call back out to Marsh ask for Charlie, tell him Cliff told you he would hook you up.......edit

THanks. I gave them a call back, got put on hold and had to hang up as I had to run to a meeting. In the meantime, a member on here came through with a pair, picked up today. Should be all set. Thanks again!

Finally got it fixed.

here was the aftermath. $1867 from the insurance quote. Good grief!

Got a set of fenders from a member for $100. Unfortunately, the one I needed had some damage but I got it pretty close to normal with some patience. Not great but its OEM steel and the bolt hole line-up and fit was perfect. I worried aftermarket would be much lighter and not fit for shit. It's a 10ft paint job repair but good enough for an almost 12 year old TJ. The damn thing had the clear parking and marker lights, cost about 3 times what the amber ones but so be it. Just gotta get my bumper lights back in order and I'll be back to 100% again.
