This week my dogs have decided to escape. Every morning they are sitting in front of my shop door waiting to get back in the fence. I just shove a piece of firewood in the hole and fix the fence when I get home from work. Last night I ran a new run of chain link but doubled. Figured they wouldn’t be able to get both layers in one night. WRONG. Get thru this assholes.

Maybe you need to just electrify the fence for a little while...

Wrap that chain link fence on the ground. Half on existing fence, half laid on the ground; can partially burry it if you want. Properly secured, that's worked wonders for some dig happy labs I know.

Our dog became quite an escape artist. Could go right over a 5' chain link. Added 2x4 wire fencing at the top, that turned in 90* overhead....and he could get right over that. Added a hot wire, he started digging. I dug a trench under fence, 6" deep, and a few inches wide. Poured with sackrete and used wire loops to connect to bottom of fence. He just dug under that. Laid some hog wire fencing flat on ground, couple of feet out, and buried it....he dug tunnels under that, too.

Finally just let him move into the house with us. That's what he wanted.

edit: I think I've posted this before....here he is going over 5' fence, before he got really good at it.

go ron white on their asses. when they come home take em for a long walk

O Yea, Nothing to it! My uncle had a fenced in Dotson once. He used the corners, to climb up, & fall over the top! Their Smart!

They need exercise.

This! A tired dog is a good dog! They'll do anything you tell/want them to if they're too tired to disobey or be an ass. Having two dogs is always good too, then they can tire each other out playing all day.

Or...they both start digging and you're really screwed :D

It’s a brother and sister. I’m sure they take turns digging. They have 1/2 acre fenced in.

I heard the momma dog loudly barking w a quick, steady rhythm one afternoon and snuck out back to see what was up. I rounded some bushes and found momma dog standing beside her 130# puppy, who was laying on her side furiously digging a trench under the box wire fence with red clay flying everywhere. The look on their faces when I yelled "HEY"!!! was priceless!!!!

An electric wire will work wonders. Used to have one in my back yard when I had 5 dogs. When I got it working, I took each dog up to the wire, sat behind them and took their paw and let them "test" it. Never did one escape again. I found out a couple years later that the transformer box had gotten knocked unplugged....it had cobwebs growing on it, so it had been awhile. None of them would even test it. They never knew it was off.
