I know @89wrangler has been. Anyone else? How was the drive out? From my area it looks like you get off 81 and based on the map it looks like a terribly curvy road for a very long time. Similar to taking 421 all the way to Harlan o_O

Based on what I’m seeing on IG I really wanna try that park out this year hopefully. Just wondering if anyone else has been and can give some updates and also curious about the drive out.

There is one stretch of narrow 2 lane road that is really curvy and I mean curvy. I think it was called S Maple St, but was 13.5 miles of curvy 35 mph rd, right after you exit I75. Plus the interstate traffic was horrible ( I40 and I75). I would not go that way again. I will go the way we came home which was scenic, a lot of 4 lane and NO traffic. It was probably 30 minutes longer, but was less miles and relaxing drive pulling the camper behind. I think it was 26 to 58 to 23 to 119 to KY15 to Bert Combs Pky.

Also the park is very large and maps were not very helpfu/up to date. It would be good to have someone local in your group if possible.

Same here. I started talking about it last year but my Jeep was down. I think it'd be worth a trip to at least check it out once.

Ditto! We went this past summer... gorgeous country!
We stayed at callieslakeandcampground.com and towed to/from the various parks (IIRC, there are tons of "private" land = just need permission/$ bordering Hollerwood.

Any pics?

*edit
I googled 300 miles for me.

We did the Daniel Boone Backcoutry Byway a couple years ago when Hollerwood was just getting started. We took a side trip at one point and saw some Hollerwood signs.

I remember there being a steep, winding road but nothing unmanageable towing.

I took a bunch of pics with my “ I thought was good” camera, but they didn’t turn out well al all. Got a few on the phone.
We stayed at 4guys campground, a little before Callie’s. Best showers I have seen. Each one has sink, shower and shitter. Level lots, power, water. Only thing was the road noise in mornings.

Probably don’t get to see everything they do.

At the same time, if you watch a Bleepinjeep Jeep video sometimes you’ll be seeing the same moments of another video by Ian Johnson or something and BJ is just goofing off while they do a retake of something. I think they loose massive amounts of time just for filming. Waiting for a camera to get ahead and such.

All of which is why I have very little pics or video of me wheeling, I just like to wheel.

I just looked up the route I would take and its 286 miles and 6 hours.....that's like a 45mph average.....

Yeah it looks like no matter which route you go you end up being on a curvy 2 lane for a LONG time.
