Holy sh## garage doors are expensive!

Just got a quote for 3 10x10 insulated garage doors. Good lord. 14k installed. Guess I'm gettin roll up doors if I proceed with this building.

Yes they make foam board kits to lay in the cavity inside the doors. Or buy a small diy spray kit and do it that way. Honestly IDK the cost difference just throwing something out there.
 
Theres a big difference in door quality too. I done a lot of research back in 2020 when I built my shop, it was 22' by the time I finished wiring my shop and the door guy came back to verify operation and program controllers. He told me the price of the doors had doubled since I bought mine. But do some research, their are a lot of insulated doors that are not very good quality.
 
I had 2 10x10 steel insulated doors installed for under 5k WWW.MARVINSGARAGEDOORS.COM 336-699-8468 It was through a contractor so I don't know if he was passing along a discount to me or not. This was almost a year ago also.

After watching mine go up, I could do it myself.

Unless you're going to put openers on them and raise and lower them multiple times per day, dont sleep in the builders discount ones. 2yrs in, no complaints.
 
I dunno if its an option for you but side / wall-mount openers are awesome. I switched to one when my regular overhead died and the difference in clearance, ease of install plus its so quiet - worth every penny.

Or look at buying it and paying just for the install.
We had a torsion spring break once while I was out of town. I was surprised how inexpensive it was to have a guy come out and replace it.

The only thing thats hard is tightening the spring. And its not hard just unnerving if you think about what could happen if you're not careful and let that thing go. Just need 2 pipes and a set of testicles.

I just had 2 10x10 metal backed insulated doors installed on my metal building. They are the nice completely sealed insulated ones. 2300 each installed. the 12x12 was 3000 installed. I dont have openers yet as i am finishing sheeting the walls first.
 
Alright, who has the cheaper vinyl backed doors vs metal backed doors? If so, how do you like them?

Vinyl backed with the latest quote is 1900 per door and steel is 2500 per door.
 
I'm waiting on a 20x7 now to come in. Finally after 11 years in the house decided to close up the attached carport.
Doing all the work but the main framing myself.

Now I know why my parents would flip the hell out when we would be firing slapshots at the garage door playing hockey in the driveway LOL
