I had to put in a new electric water heater yesterday and now my shower barely runs, no pressure. All other faucets are fine as is the other shower in the house. Of course I had to drain down the old heater and opened hot water faucets including this shower. After the change I refilled tank and lines and some discolored water came out but that's usual.
Did this ruin my mixer valve in the shower? The air or bleed down?
I've ran everything plenty long enough to get the air out.

Is it only a shower head (not a bath tub)?

Could have knocked loose some junk that clogged the shower head. If you can test the flow from the tub, that's an easy way to tell. Can also remove the shower head and look for garbage in the flow restrictor.

Yep, sounds like crud clogging the tiny holes of the head. Unscrew it and inspect.
You can clean them by soaking in various things.

I can tell I get a tiny clog in any of my flow restrictors / aerators, as they usually get an odd stream. Unscrew them, & generally can just back wash them, or use a brush to clean. if really stubborn, punch the holes out with something like a sewing pin, or clothes pin.
