Home Security Cameras

Had another incident at the house last night that has me thinking I should install some cameras. My alarm system (Simplisafe) worked flawlessly and had the police here in less than 2 minutes.

Any suggestions? I'm not looking to spend a ton on a system, somewhere in the 300 dollar range. I want to start with 4 cameras, at least 2 rated for outdoor use. Doesn't matter if it's wired or wireless, I figure even the wireless ones need power so I'll have to get up in the attic to run the cable regardless. Looking for recording and internet stream capability as well. There seems to be an overwhelming amount of options out there.

I was thinking about something like this (http://www.amazon.com/Amcrest-960H-...011_1_2?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1437188985&sr=1-2). I know it's only a 4 channel unit, but at 260 bucks it seems like a good deal.

Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. You won't be able to read tag numbers or anything like that.

X2. While the wireless is nice, you can probably find a wired system that has a higher resolution for the same price. Also contact your security company and see what they offer as an upgrade with cameras.

I never can understand, with the technology we have, why security camera pictures are so grainy and you can barely see anything. Then I remember people always want to save a few dollars.

I have a Dropcam looking out the front window. Good clarity and descent phone app, when it works. Most of the time it won't stay connected to my wi-fi, so it was a big waste of money.
