My system is more "backend" than display bling ....

42" HD display with stereo sound and subwoofer
I use a custom built Windows 7 MCE PC to play either DVDs, or play streamed movies from a in-house server with a terabyte of raid storage. I think we have approx 200 movies on the storage.
the server also has storage for MP3 music and pics.

I need to provide quarterly training to the wife

What brands people use as far as reciver. Pioneer,Sony I use yamaha my self and klipsch sub,center and surround sats myself.

I have a

40" LCD wall mounted, I using a 7.1 Sony Home Theater Receiver because it was a Christmas gift, I am using the Fronts, Sub and Center that came with it, I used some Boston Acoustics that I already had for my surrounds. I am only running it in 5.1 which is what most stuff is in any way. The Boston Acoustics sound really really good.

There similar to this one, Just the older model. I worked with a company is Charlotte that installed them and I got them when we replaced our demo with newer speakers.

I just installed a 1080p Panasonic ae4000u projector that shines onto a 120" ceiling recessed screen. I have always wanted a BIG screen tv and and I thrilled that I went with this.

Its only a few weeks old and I still have some tinkering to do.

Sony Bravia 42 inch LCD 120hz. Sony Bravia 5.1 suround system. Sony Blue Ray disk player, all of this syncs together, one remote, pretty cool. and a Roku wifi receiver for streaming Net Flix movies. oh, and it has a port for my Ipod, as well as a remote receiver so you can listen to anything in any room, or in our case, outside.

I sell home theater products.........but i dont have a home theater setup. I do have an old onkyo 2 channel reciever with a pair of JAMO towers. It sounds nice.

This is the only way to go. I've been ripping the rest of our stuff... after I realized that if it wasn't on the server, it didn't get watched.

But 1TB? In raid? Buncha 250GBs w/parity?

I need to update my tuner so I can run the HDMI cables from my PS3 and TV to the tuner. Any recomendations on a non-uberexpensive tuner that is HDMI compatable?

check out the onkyo stuff. Its pretty much bulletproof and very budget friendly.

Woody, I have to wonder if you'll find anything that compares to your Mac, it's hard to find gear like that anymore.

saf-t scissors, Ya, exactly 5, 250gb drives installed in a custom chassis I put together ...the storage system runs something called openfiler. Raid5. If a disk fails, you put another in and no big deal.

Measured frequency response from the subs - yes, the -3db point is 11hz.

With the old "small" screen (106" 16:9, the new one goes from LF to RF speaker)

Seating.. and I STILL need to cover the riser... ugh. (You can see the side and rear surrounds up on the wall.. in-wall speakers are thin-sounding, but do disappear)

61" JVC with a crack in the screen from a shitty room mate a few years ago
Just got a PS3 so all those options
TV is big, works great, but there is a black spot in the lower left hand corner that never got repaired, Ive got used to it as have most my friends so I have no interest in dropping 700+ to fix it.

I don't think anything compares to it for just pure music listening. It's just too dated to handle a lot of modern inputs. I'd never part with it.
