Anyone ever done this? Anyone have these on thier rig?

Buddy at work said he used to have homemade beadlocks on his CJ. He drilled holes along the outer ring of his wheel. He then put the tire on and when he ran the srews through the hole, they would grab the tire, o through the inner ring of the rubber and bam, he had homemade beadlocks. He also ran slime in it to prevent any leaks.

I was wondering, is this for real? Thanks.

Yeah alot of drag racers have done this as well with slicks to keep the rim from spinning inside the tire on hard launches. I've never done it for rockcrawling but guess it could work for awhile but I can't help but think that a rock could push the bead off the screws kinda like stripping the hole in a wood stud, then it wont hold anymore. Like I said I don't know aint never tried it for that.

Sideloads> tires screws

Offroaders need beadlocks to keep from rolling the bead off the wheel. I'm a dragracer and offroader. My 10 second Fox body has screws. If I took it up Lower Damnation, it would have beadlocks.

HD78Bronco used to run screrws in his 42" TSL's IIRC. I did see one get squeezed off the bead one day, but that was in a pretty unusual situation. For the most part I think it worked pretty well.
