homebrew spot welder / attachment

has any successfully built a homebrew spot welder or made one that uses a production welder chassis to get power from. looking at doing another willys reservation or two (or three) and this seems like a great tool to have for panel replacement the correct way.

Google has done decent links on building over. HF also sells a spot welder unit pretty cheap.

The harbor fright unit is so- so. It's a heavy bitch too. Go ahead and buy extra tips while you're there.

The issue I see with most spot welders are you cant separate the leads to get anywhere other than right at the edge. replacing a floorpan becomes very challenging to spot weld.
