I just picked up a 93 civic, it has d15b7 that burns oil.

I had previously bought a wrecked 00 hatch and tore it apart to keep the engine/transaxle for use in a buggy.

The 00 engine is a d16y7.

Any Honda guys on here know if the d16y7 long block will swap in place of the d15b7 ? The newer long block ran great and no smoke no smell.

The 93 engine doesn’t smoke blue smoke but you can smell the oil burning in the exhaust. It runs fine.

I’ve tried searching the Honda sites and google but no real info.

So far I’ve found the long block should bolt straight it, keeping the intake and exhaust and all with the car.

Need to swap the d15 distributor into the d16.

May have to rework heater hoses/ports,

And the biggest unanswered question is that the d16 runs off a differ ign map and the d15 computer will require a tune to run the d16 long block even if all components are swapped over.

Different fuel/spark maps I'm sure. 1.6 would take more fuel. Swap the harness and integrate it and get obdII. I'll check with my Honda geek though. It shouldn't be too far off to run decently well roughly without problems though. It's 1/10th a liter bigger, 6.7% displacement difference... Small potatoes. I'd swap it and not worry. Or just add adjustable fpr and raise fuel pressure a hair.
