I have a few issues with my '94 Accord LX 2.2l manual transmission, any help on any of them would be greatly appreciated:
no reverse lights
no dash lights (for needles)
no gauge lights
won't crank

I bought the car a couple of months ago for a DD when a person offered me more money for my old ranger than it was worth. After a couple of days, I noticed the reverse lights would come on sometimes, but not always. I've read online that the reverse switch is a problem for these cars, but nobody I can find has a write-up on how to fix it. Any help? Not really wanting to take it to a shop for something minor.

Also when I bought it, driving for the first time at night, I noticed the lights in the instrument bezel that light up the needles do not work. Wasn't a big deal since I could see via the gauge backlights. I pulled the light bulbs and they work fine and no fuses are blown....any recommendations on where to start besides just tracing wires?

At the beginning of this week, I noticed that when I turned the lights on in the morning to go to work, the gauge backlights and the rest of the dash lights would come on for a split second and then go off. This kept happening every morning, but they would not come back on if I cut the lights off and then back on. Any ideas? I'm thinking a wire might be making a bad connection and when power is applied, it breaks contact.

Last but not least, the car left me at the gas station when it wouldn't crank. It would run off starting fluid, so I ordered a main fuel relay and replaced it. It ran fine for a few more days and now it sometimes will crank (I can tell if it will when the fuel pump runs in the ON position for ~2sec), but mostly it will not crank. It could be the ignition switch, ignition relay, fuel pump and/or a connection. Any ideas/recommendation where to start?

TIA,
Brandon

The reverse light problem is an easy fix. Jut go buy a new switch at a parts store and put it in. Shouldn't take more than 20 mins. Have the take the intake tube off and its on the top of the tranny if I remember correctly. The lights in the dash could be blown so I'd just pull it and see what ya got. As far as the cranking issues go if you have fuel and its turning over fine it's more than likely the ign control module thats in the dist. It's pretty easy to change just have to take the dist off to do it easily.
