Well I posted this initially on three Honda forums and got no responses. So hopefully someone here can give me a hand as this is causing me quite a problem.

I've got a 2003 Honda Accord 2-Door EX V6 that I use as my DD. Shortly after I got it, the driver side window would intermittently refuse to roll down. The switch was a bit loose, but fiddling with it usually seemed to get it rolling. It never had a problem rolling back up, and the passenger window was always fine.

This weekend, however, the window was down and refused to come back up at all, even after trying to use a pick to move the actuator inside the switch. So I went and coughed up $175 for the new switch/control-module (it's all one thing of course). But this didn't fix it, and even the dealership couldn't get the window back up as it was.

Then yesterday, while I was contemplating what to do, the passenger window stopped working as well (halfway down of course). Now none of the three window switches do anything with either the new or old control module plugged in (and my keyless doesn't work with the new one, guess I need to program it).

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced service manual, but until then are there any Honda guys that can point me in the right direction? I checked all the fuses and they're good, but beyond that I don't know where to look. Perhaps there's some other control unit somewhere that might have a loose plug or something?

Thanks for any help you can provide, I can't afford to just have the dealer fix it right now, and I hope to be able to at least get the windows up before it rains again.

Odds are there is another control unit that actually controls the windows. The switches just tell it what window to roll up or down. Probably controls the door locks/keyless entry too. Have you tried a Haynes or chiltons?

Pull the door panel and find the two wires that are going directly to the motor. Unplug them, splice in two jumpers and connect to your 12v source of choice, drill batt, or extra car battery? If the window will go up and down lets check else where.

LF Window Up RED/BLACK (REV) AT SWITCH OR MOTOR IN DRIVERS DOOR
LF Window Dn RED/YELLOW (REV) AT SWITCH OR MOTOR IN DRIVERS DOOR
RF Window Up BLUE/RED (REV) AT SWITCH OR MOTOR IN DRIVERS DOOR
RF Window Dn BLUE/WHITE (REV) AT SWITCH OR MOTOR IN DRIVERS

These will be the wires that will be at the motor. Ck here first to make sure the motors are still good. If they are you can at least roll them up.

wife's old honda accord (05) had both rear window motors/regulators go out.
Both went out the same day, I chase electrical gremlins all weekend and beat my head against the glass because everything seemed right. Turned out both went out same time.

As said above, pull the door panel and induce known voltage to the window motor (unplug the control switch first so no back feed issue potential) if it rolls up, start tracing, when it doesnt go to ebay there is a guy there who has them for less than 1/3rrd what honda wanted.

500.00 DOLLARS and The winner is!!!!
Check the wire harness going to the door. It will unclip. The wire soldered to the pins will break at the soldered joint. Common failure.
Pull the pins one by one -strip wire- remove old wire from pin- reinsert and re-solder. Have fixed many with the exact problem.

Yep ive seen that as well, except on speaker wire. I normally drill out nonused pins, and pull a wire directly through.

Thanks for the responses guys, I knew I could count on you! My dad and I tore the door apart last night and tested the voltages where the harness connected to the window motor, and it get's voltage there when the switch is pressed. When we first got the motor/regulator assembly out it worked for few moments and then stopped dead again. I'm going to try connecting the motor directly to a power source and see how it behaves. We took the housing off and the motor seems ok, and there doesn't seem to be anything seized up anywhere in the regulator assembly. We quit when it got dark so I'll tinker with it some more this evening. I'll post again if I find out anything else. I really hope I won't have to cough up for a new motor, as I'm sure that'll be another few hundred $$.

Also, after swapping the new switch back in both the passenger window and keyless work again, so that's good I guess.
Thanks gain guys!

Thanks again guys! ended up replacing the regulator assembly and that worked. I had to program my remote again, and that's working fine. Everything is back together and working except the auto-up and down.

It works on the old broken switch, but the new one will only go up and down manually. It worked when I still had the door taken apart and just plugged in the new switch and new regulator, but now that it's all back together auto is just non-functional.

I've checked the connections and I'm not sure what would cause it to not work after putting it all back together. Any thoughts on this?

I'll also say that I was amazed how easy this job was. Honda did a really good designing an interior with great fit and finish, while still being easy to work in. I only ended up needing a panel tool and a 10mm ratchet wrench, and I had the door completely disassembled with both the glass and regulator/motor completely removed. Took me less than an hour to get everything completely back together. I <3 Honda's!

tTe motor probably needs to initialized. Try holding up the window switch in the auto up feature for 3-5 seconds after it's hit the top.

Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

Move the driver's window all the way down by using the driver's window DOWN switch.

Open the driver's door.

NOTE: step 4-7 must be done within 5 seconds of each other.

Turn the ignition switch OFF.

Push and hold the driver's window DOWN switch.

Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

Release the driver's window DOWN switch.

Repeat step 4-7 three more times.

Wait 1 second.

Confirm that AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN do not work. If AUTO UP and DOWN work, go back to step 1

Move the driver's window all the way down by holding the driver's window DOWN switch to the AUTO DOWN position.

Pull up and hold the driver's window UP switch to the AUTO UP position until the window reaches the fully closed position, then continue to hold the switch for 1 second.

Confirm that the power window master switch is reset by using the driver's window AUTO UP and DOWN function.

If the window still does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure several times, paying close attention to the 5 second time limit between steps. If it still does

...Or there's always that way^^^...

Haha! You guys are awesome. Everything is working perfectly now. I got the motor initialized and the remote programmed and it's all set. It figures I would get better help on the 4x4 forum than I would on 3 Honda specific forums combined. Thanks again!
