Does any one know what might cause bad steering. :poop:I have a 1974 chevy k10 with a 6" lift. I just changed the steering arm cause when I bought the truck a few weeks ago it had the stock one still on it. The only thing I can think of is that the tires that are on it are to worn out. And some how it causes the truck to pull from side to side while driing down the road. The tires are some older Mickey Thompson belted baja's. They are 35x17.50x15lt's. ANYONE?????

Have you checked out things like tie rod ends, drag link, ball joints, etc... If the truck has been abused off road and the previous owner didn't bother to correct the steering, plenty of parts could be worn out. I drove a sub lifted 4" with no steering correction and it ate up the drag link ends.

I've got an older set of some baja's which are bias ply,and they SUCK for steering. maybe some diff tires will make a noticeable difference

stabilizer wont fix anything, it may HIDE a problem.

On THAT truck check for frame cracks around the steering box.
I dont have a ton of time this AM so when you find you have a cracked frame post up and Ill post more tis evening.

X2 on the frame cracks

I believe it may be the tires I have a 2001 wrangler with a 4" lift on 33x12.50x15's and when the tires get worn on it it wants to track all over the road. I dont know wanting to have big toys on a small budget is about like thinking you will one day have the chance to get with Pamela Anderson. (near impossable)

Let's see..

1: 17.5" wide tires are gonna grab everything in the road anyway..
2: Push-pull steering with 6" lift?
3: Caster is probably not as much as it needs to be
4: worn-out bushings in the leafs, worn TRE's, etc..
5: Cracked frame
6: worn steering shaft components between the wheel and box
7: loose / worn out steering box
8: out of round tires

I honestly dont know how much trouble I have gotten myself into. But I only have a grand tied up in the truck now. well I traded a 1989 silverado 4x4 extended cab, with a bad 700r4 tranny and a motor that was bout to go also, that I paid a grand for.

I konw your a little bit of a drive but if you bring it over to me I can tell you what to replace & if the frame is cracked I can fix it for the cheap
