house paint sprayers?

Howdy...with my inlaws just having a HUGE storage building put up that needs painting within the next 60 days, and my house needing painting and getting quotes waaaayyyy up in the thousands, I figured I ought to look into power paint sprayers. I don't need anything super-contractor grade or anything, since it's basically just these 2 big projects, but at the same time I want it to do well for them.
Any experiences? How is the Wagner setup? Thoughts? Horror stories?
Thanks,

no wagner, good for thin stains, but bad for thick latex paint. they do make most of the pro models that sherwin williams sells, you can get a nice one for about 350, or so, and they work good for occasional use, and will spray very thick paint without thinning, and good results are easy with good prepping.

yes, a Wagner Power painter sux ass trying to paint anything but thinned paints, or stains.

I used one to paint the ceiling in my house a few years ago, it gets hot trying to move the fluid and the paint dries in the process. very frustraiting. To my recollection there was no mention of thinning the paint to make it work.

The Graco stuff sold a Lowe's ain't bad, form my indirect experiance when I was repairing power tools, MOST that came in with issues were not cleaned properly ( IE, owner opted to NOT buy the cleaning solutions available that actually clean and loosen paint when cleaning, and also lubricates the machine. )

If you get one, be sure to use the cleaning solutions available for it, yeah, it is a little more spendy, but they do work and just flushing with water won't do the job.

Bought a sprayer ($80-90) at Lowes in the >>>air compressor<<< [Kobalt brand I believe] section that was specifically built for LATEX PAINT!

Asked the guy if they were any good, he told me, if not, bring it back so that sounded like a good idea to me.

I was VERY pleased with the result, I was spraying some furniture and rocking chairs and pretty pleased with my results. The sprayer only holds 1 quart or so (kinda like one for shooting cars), so that part sux.

Final thought, I want to say the little professional one my father in law got at Lowes was about $300ish, sits over a 5 gallon bucket / does a GREAT job and if you take the quotes you are getting and take $350 for a sprayer plus paint I would guess you will be FAR ahead! (and have a nice sprayer then as well)

Wagner = TOTAL junk...been there, spent that, most frustrating day in my life trying to spray latticework.

Does this one require a compressor? That's a looooooooooonnnnggggg hose I'd need if so.
Thanks for the tips, and also the offer Galen - although the pickup/return time might be a bit prohibitive...
I may look into renting a commercial one for a week or something...but the storage building, which was finished last week, has to be painted within 30 days or else the warranty is voided, so something has to happen pretty quickly on that one.
I've been reading reviews online of different ones, and it seems like the Wagner stuff works perfectly for maybe 1/3 of the people who love it, and everyone else thinks it's total junk...
