Was doing some light wheeling the other week and I heard a loud pop from under the front end. It sounded like I broke a half shaft universal but it still pulled good. But the next morning i notice the steering wheel was of center so I crawled under to look and this is what I found.

Any suggestions on how best to repair this I was thinking I could just remove the control arm and bend the bracket back into place and weld it. I don't know though my cam guide is pretty bent up also.

Not sure how far Mccleansville is from lincolnton, but if you get it to me I'll fix it on the cheap. Bring tasty beverages.

Repair = Weld it up. Maybe slap some extra steel on the bottom part to reinforce it and make a skid... Jeffy will hook you up..

Thanks for the offer if you were just a little closer I would take you up on that, but since mapquest says your about 120 miles I think that is a little far to drive with that bracket being broke.

I hoping I can barrow a buddies welder tomorrow so I can fix it tomorrow night I would like to try and make it out to stuarts farm saturday.

Leave the are attached as long as you can. Place a Jack under it & jack it back into place. A hammed & a 1" chisel will help get out some of the bends & creases. once you have it back into position tack it up. Remove the control arm & weld it. Like Yager said add some plate to it & make a type of skid. If there is room add some side gussets.
I would beef the other side while I was under the vehicle.
Best of luck!

Thanks! Thats kind of what I was planing on doing. I am sure the $100 dollar alignment I just had done 2 weeks ago will have to be redone. But oh well that is the fun of this sport, if it was cheap more people would do it.

Seems like a good reason to swap in a real axle?? :flipoff2:
Whatever you do, I certainly wouldn't drive it anywhere in that condition.

I would love to swap a real axle in to it but after finding out today that as of March 31 I am unemployed I don't believe I'll be putting any more money in it for a while.

Hell if I am unemployed long enough there maybe a for sale sign on the :poop:!!!!!!!!!

If you want to fix it for good carolina truggies has some really nice after market brakets for 97 for the pair. If you can get an axle just upgrade it. With the near unemployment though that may not be your best solution.
