how do i disable stock alarm on 97 ZJ?

my factory alarm goes off sometime for no reason on my 97 grand cherokee. i want to disable it. i read on the net that you can ground a purple/yellow wire behind the drivers kick panel, but i dont have a wire that color. i was gonna try to disconnect the hood switch (that worked in my car when i installed an aftermarket alarm), but i cant find that either, is it built into the hinges where u cant see it or somethin? any info would be great, thanks.

I disabled the one on my 93 by disconnectin the wire runnin to the sensor in the overhead console... that disabled the keyless remote too though

i dont have keyless entry, or if i do the remote was lost before i got the jeep. whats the sensor look like?

You should have a purple wire with a yellow tracer behind the drivers' side kick panel. That'll be the one you should tap into and run to ground.


Edit. I'll verify the wire color in my FSM and try to snap a pic of it in my 96 this week.

i cant find that purple/yellow wire. does it go to the door? or from the dash to the floor?
