How Do You Guys Feel About Audi?

I have a 93 vw corrado, LOVE it but will say this.... You have to love a VW to own one. They constantly need little TLC items. I am getting ready to maintance mine to the tune of about $1800...... but to me I can make that up in 2 months in gas over driving the Excurison.

There ya go. Get a Scooby baru!

Get a mazda speed 6.... Almost like a wrx...

Try an Acura. You gt the reliability & performance. They typically do well on fuel mileage too. The new ILX based on the Civic got good reviews with the 2.4. The TSX is a nice car too.

Here's a fun German car. X5. 125k on the clock. Gotta have the heads sent of for a rebuild because the valve seals leak. Price tag? A little over 5 grand.

Like a BOSS!

Audi takes some lovin. I don't have very much in this car but it's the little things that add up.

And I HATE the fact that I have to run premium gas!

Anyone want to trAde? I'll take a 4 cyl that run 87 octane any day!

I can weigh in on both cars. I owned a 2001 Audi A6 4.2 V8. Loved the car, I bought it used with 25,000 miles. Had plenty of power, luxury, fast, and a good looking car, but it cleaned out my bank account. The car was under warranty for a while, which helped, but the electrical problems that car had was unbelievable. I would never own one again. The transmission went, and new trans was about 6,000 parts and labor. Had to replace the whole instrument panel at 1100.00 a pop 5 times. Fun car to drive when it works right. My mother in law owns an Audi tt....and its a piece of shit too. I sold the car and got a 2006 Honda Civic Coupe. Almost 40 miles a gallon, 5 speed manual, and I bought that used with almost no miles for $12,000. I have almost 140,000 miles on this car. My daily driver, and the only thing I have done to this car since I bought it 4 years ago.......and this is truthfully speaking.......oil changes, and tires. Never a check engine light, never a failed sensor, I havent even had to change the brakes yet. I just had Lee(transman) change my trans fluid. Most reliable car I have ever owned, and I have owned 9-10 cars so far. If I had to do over again I would probably get the SI model. Those cars are fun to drive, 6 speed manual trans, pretty quick, and still ok on gas. Only thing is, the Civic SI calls for 93 octane. 200 hp in the SI, and limited slip diff. I am a big fella, and for a small car, they have plenty of room. I will buy another one for sure. So my 2 pennies.....stay away from Audi, and if you are looking for something fun and quick and want a civic....go test drive the SI.

Once again everyone has posted experience with the ill fated 4th generation Audi and Volkswagen cars. 2005 and newer wont have those electrical gremlins. I was very active in the Volkswagen scene and the 4th gen owners always had dash clusters die, coil packs stop working, immobilizer go on the fritz... the 5th gen guys never had problems they didn't cause themselves.

My boss bought a used 2010,11? Toyota Rav 4 V6 for his wife and I drove it home from the dealer in Va. It was a blast to drive, plenty of power-quick, comfortable w lots of room and handled like a sports car IMO. It would push you back in the seat, even at 70mph! I would drive one If I could afford it.

I bought an 07 civic new and only problem was sun visor had recall because it wouldn't stay up. Mine gets about 36mpg and that is driving it like I want not trying to conserve gas. It is a 5spd and does well unless trying to pass at highway speeds. Has 48k miles now and drives like day it was new. No regret in the purchase.

On a side note my mother in law has a 99 Jetta and I am about ready to buy her a car so I can blow it up next time it springs a coolant leak or some stupid sensor breaks.

Check out the Volvo V50's, I just bought a 2010 model. Pretty happy with it, I drove the Turbo version and it was pretty quick but wasn't as well taken care of as the base level one we ended up with. Don't worry they are way cooler than those Grandma Volvos of the 80s

Do some research on civics of that year range. Lots of engine blocks crack but there is a warranty extension. The 01up body style civics have their problems too. I do lots of head gaskets around 100k and the suspension work alone keeps me pretty busy.

FWIW Im a honda tech and I got my GF an 08 jetta s.
