How do you remove the gear selector knob on a ZJ?

'93 ZJ 4.0 with automatic.

How do you remove the gear selector "knob"?

I was at a junk yard and was about to pull the gear indicatorsheet and possibly the center console, but couldn't get it off because of the gear selector.

Push down? Pull up hard? Twist? What?

If it's anything like a '98 Cherokee 4.0 w/ automatic you just pull on it real hard and it should pop off.
