Working on a '79 F100 2wd with rear hitch. Problem I'm having is getting the exhaust to bend over the rear axle and then turning it back out to the rear to pass inside the springs and then turn outside the frame / hitch without getting too close to my gas tank. I'm wondering what ya'll think is a safe distance to keep between them? I've got about 3/4" right now. Should I make an aluminum heat shield and run with it? Or do you think I should keep at it to get it further away? Bending 2 1/2" stainless exhaust mandrually without creasing it is a bitch. And I'm down to the very end and feel it's too late to go to a muffler shop at this point. Even got my duals exactly matching out the rear. Basically done besides the gas tank worry...
Never done my own exhaust before and never paid attention to other vehicles I've driven?
