How I fixed my shuddering F150 tranny.

For posterity's sake or in case someone has the same trouble one day. Tranny was shuddering when at neutral throttle when going up a hill with TC locked up. Would also shudder when applying "passing" throttle on the highway with TC locked up. Had to punch it to unlock TC to get it to stop. Had a little occasional "bump" from motor when idling at a stop light. After having the fluid and filter changed I did some net research and then had my mechanic hook up the code reader. No CEL but the ECM was reporting missing from a cylinder. Problem rolled with a coil pack so it was replaced. No more shudder. Apparently any missing that resulted from the coil pack was absorbed by the fluid coupling when the TC was unlocked when it was locked and under the most the most strain it would miss causing it to be felt through the drivetrain.

Buy stutter stop at carquest and drive for 200 miles. Problem solved

That's not a fix for the op's problem.. a misfire would cause exactly what he described... I've not had any luck with any such products, have you @GotWood?
Yes. My 01 E250 was fixed with this additive. In fairness, I didn't read the entire original post. My bad.

A lot of people have fixed there's with Dr Tranny additive. I admit that I bought some but didn't put it in cause I wanted the "bump" at idle to be checked out cause I thought it was an engine misfire.

Hmmmm wonder if this is same for 99 burb 350/4l80e? Mine does exact shit no missfire codes tho no codes at all...

If it's the TC clutches causing the shudder, good old friction modifier works as well
As a matter of fact, back in the mid 90s, Ford had a TSB that instructed us to drain the TC and add a bottle of modifier to fix shudder. If that didn't work, we were they authorized to do so.
