That's more than I have in my garage! I hope you're on the trail when I break down next time!

I used to carry quite a bit, but then someone broke into my Wrangler years ago and made off with quite a few wrenches. I carry much less know & pray harder before I leave.

I wish I had more actually, here is some of the stuff I still want/need to get:

- Chains
- Recovery Shovel
- Hi Lift Jack
- Air Compressor
- First Aid Kit
- Fire Extinguisher
- Standard Wrenches
- Short 2x4
- come-a-long

As far as theft goes all my stuff is pad locked, which is only a theft deterrent. Anyone with bolt cutters can get around pad locks. I also keep everything covered back there so thieves can't go window shopping. But I am going to start at least taking the tools in the house to be safe. Because I am starting to have a bunch of them back there.

as for a shovel, I picked up a fold up military shovel at a surplus store for $5. Works great & is compact.

Wow, let me think...
8.8 axleshafts
D30 axleshafts with unit bearings already on
Spider gears for both axles in case of a locker failure
Ball joints
Spare front driveshaft
Spare rear driveshaft with 8.8 flange already on
Tie rod (the draglink stays behind at camp)
Various sizes of hoses and clamps
Tow straps
Ratchet straps
High Lift
Zip ties
Box 'O' bolts
Some wire (less than it used to be since people need it for hacked together shit)
PS fluid, gear oil, motor oil, brake cleaner, gallon of water
Cordless impact (best trail tool ever)
All the tools to change any of the above parts plus just about everything a TJ can use including a BJ press

This stuff plus more I can't think of usually gets divided between my and my friend's jeep since we're set up just about the same.

Back at camp, we keep a 110V welder, pieces of various tubing/steel, misc bushings, angle grinder, extension cords, jackstands and even more stuff I can't think of. Having all this stuff has actually turned what would have been a blown trip into a fun one. I taco'd my stock front UCA on my jeep one trip to Harlan. They were the last stock arms on the heep. We had all that we needed to build a set of arms. I limped it back to the rental house and built arms right there in the driveway. They're still on there to this day and have given me no issues.

This should also be followed by the amount of skinny pedal you enjoy. I'm very easy on mine and enjoy watching others tackle the hard stuff. I don't have a trailer either. I guess due to that, I should carry more tools and parts! I'm starting a list.

For yourself/others?

When my son was a teenager and we would go wheelin with his buddies I would carry a ton of stuff. Not for me, but to keep them going down the trail. Nut/bolt combos and fluids especially. Lot of low transmission fluid and engine oil situations. I got use to carrying all that stuff back then and still do to some extent. Hard habit to break.

We all know the guys that you can count on to go into the back of their rig and come out with something that will get you down the road. Makes for a heavy rig, but we all appreciate it when they bail us out.

When I first started wheeling in my FS Bronco, I use to carry a ton of stuff. Then I turned a 180 when I started wheeling my Samurai and only carried a tow strap and one of those multi-screwdriver things. Now I am about half way in between. I have a fairly large tool bag, and throw an assortment of regular tools in there plus it has some hose clamps, some wire, and some silicone stuff. I don't carry any spare parts in the Samurai, but I keep a spare tire and spare driveshafts in the bed of my tow rig.

For yourself/others?

This is a good point. Most of the stuff in my truck is used to work on it at the house (because I really don't have room for all these tools inside, aka no garage), or work on other people's vehicles on the trail. Mostly the spare fluids get used, mainly the 50/50 for overheating vehicles on the trail. To think when I started wheeling all I had was:

-Spare Tire
-Tire Iron
-Bottle Jack

I don't know how it works for other people but my tool budget is on as "as needed" basis. So everything in my truck has been bought to deal with a problem I have had. So everything has been used at least once. As I encounter new problems I add more tools. Like I just ordered one of those Military Folding Shovels/Multi Tools off Ebay. Because when I was helping the Polaris on the trail near my house, I blew a bead and we had to use part of the skid plate on the Polaris to dig out enough to get the spare on. I may not use this shovel I am getting for a year or longer, or I may need it my next time out. All I do know is when I need one I will have one.

Thats a lot of stuff! You are welcome to come wheeling with me anytime.

I have been cleaning out the garage/storage lately, and I am planning on loading up the tow rig with a ton of good trail fix items and spare parts.

I very recently raped an FZJ80 at the Pull a Part in Raliegh, so I am pretty stoked about all my spare parts(some I had already)

Front driveshaft
Front inner axle shafts short and long side
2 spare birfs
drive flanges
knuckles
front hub/bearing assy
rotors with wheel studs already in
tie rod(x2)
drag link
steering box
Rear driveshaft
Rear FF axle shafts short and long(offset diff)
Rear FF hubs/bearings assys
Rear diff(need to gear it 5.29, but it is better that nothing right now)
full size full tread spare tire on the correct wheel! (never used to carry a spare)
Fan clutch
Radiator

When I finally get this thing back on the trail, I will be ready!

-Water
-matches
-fire log
-random tools
-sleeping bag
-tent
-tow straps
-come a long
-chain
-pic axe
-dip
-plenty of empty spitters

After I get a little more money I'll start to throw some extra parts in the tool box but until then I just reley on the Yota holding together.

My dad and I ALWAYS wheel together, and we both wheel RamChargers with similar setups. So between him and I we have enough stuff to fix just about anything.

Standard and metric socket sets in 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 drive.
Wrenches from 1/4 to 1 1/2 and 6mm to 19mm.
Hi lift, 3 bottle jacks, 2 jackstands.
Air tools for the OBA.
Spare drive shafts and axleshafts.
Various wiring stuff, from connectors and wire to switches and fuses.
Enough fluids to do a complete service.
Various specialty tools.
And the all important box-o-random crap.

As I read other people's posts I keep noticing stuff I forgot to list. Was just out swapping my spare off the rear axle back to its place on the rear gate (its amazing how nice it is to have a full size spare on a correct rim) and noticed my lug nuts were looking pretty chewed up. So I dug around in the storage bin and found my spare (new) lug nuts that I had bought at least 3 years ago.

As far as spare parts go right now the only ones I have are my old auto hubs incase the superwinches give at some point, and a upper ball joint I need to put on anyway. At a buddy of mines shop I have a ton of spare parts, and some spare parts in the back of my Silver Truck sitting at the top of the driveway. If I had a bigger truck I would carry spare parts too. Because I am starting to have a nice collection.

Draider, you NEED a bigger truck. I'm surprised there's room for you in there with all that you bring along. Must've been a boy scout. Props to you for being prepared though.
