how rare is this?

He probibly was hoping to be arrested so he could get free health care not rare either.

Eh.....not that rare. Older folks start undoing wrongs theyve done years ago the closer they get to death and what they perceive will be their judgement.

I wanna know how that's considered repaying his debt with interest??? With inflation factored in...$30 stolen in 1940 would be the equivalent of roughly $450 today.

I was thinking when it said, "Store security cameras recorded the man", I thought it meant it recorded the crime.... in an oil painting! LOL

About 15 years ago a man walked into my auto tech class in high school and asked the teacher if he could speak with him outside. The teacher came back in a few minutes later with a bunch of tools in hand and continued teaching. He told us later that the man said he had stolen them when he took the class years ago and had always felt bad about it.

I guess math was different back in the day.....

I worked for that store for about 3 months... Know Gary Personally.

That Sears is awesome, it has so much history behind it. It used to have the regional corporate offices in it and the catalog business for you older guys was headquartered there for a few years.

There are some very interesting people in Seattle. I could definitely see Gary talking to the news about the incident. He's a very "artistic" person.
