Ford 9" rear axle. Had the bearings on the shafts replaced while I had them out to install the new center section. Now I need to get the old races out of the ends of the axle tubes. Is there a jaw puller that has like an outer structure where the jaws would be on the inside? Is there a tool I can rent from a parts store? Once I get these out, I can put everything back together and be ready to wheel.

Slide hammer or long piece of steel rod from the other side.

I use a long piece of tube/rod and hammer it out from the opposite side of the axle.
EDIT: obviously won't work with carrier in

If the center section is in, a slide hammer is the way to go.

Ive used a 2 jaw puller with the jaws inverted/flipped, then flat bar stock against the tube. Won't pull it all the way but should move it enough to break it free. Then just pulling on the pulled usually gets the rest of the way..

Weld a fast, hot bead down the middle of the race all the way around. When the weld cools, it contracts and makes the whole race shrink, and it'll just fall out. It works better than you can imagine.
