I'm trying to replace the downstream o2 sensor on my v6 frontier. I just can not break the sensor loose. I rented an o2 sensor wrench from autozone but it's got a deep head and I'm worried I will strip the outside of the sensor. I tried yanking on it a few times with no luck. I got frustrated and cut the wires so that I could put a box end wrench on it, but pulling with all my strength I can't budge it. It's been soaking in PB blaster and I tried breaking it loose after letting the engine run for a few minutes to get the exhaust hot.
Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm almost ready to just leave the old sensor in and weld in a new bung hole.

Thanks guys, I used a torch and that did the trick, I replaced that heated o2 sensor and have driven for 40 miles but the check engine light is still on. Shouldnt it have gone off by now if that sensor was the problem?

you need to have it cleared. it may go out after 50 ignition cycles, but it will not be cleared. it will go from a pending code to a memory code. it's best to have it cleared, it will reset all monitors and all sensors will work the way they are supposed to instead of trying to adapt to the bad o2 sensor.

I disconnected my battery last night before I went to bed and that cleared the code. I'm driving to uwharrie today (130 mile trip) and I really hope not to see my check engine light again.
