How to setup air shocks?????

I am doing a sas on a 2000 tacoma with air shocks in the front, don't really know about air shocks hopeing that someone has done this before can help me. Thanks
 
By "air" I assume nitrogen?

I would say a tacoma is likely too heavy for an air shock alone, they are not a buggy in weight. even the factory shock is a coilover derivitive.
 
I would use a coilover if you can find the money...But we have used airshocks on some things heaver than that, just use a 2.25" or 2.5" airshock.
 
I think a Taco would be OK with air shocks.. the front end certainly isn't holding more than 2000lbs of sprung weight, right? One of the guys I've wheeled with is using air shocks on the front of his Taco... though it's sitting on a full-sze GM truck frame and has an LT1 under the hood.. ;)

It will be neat to see how on something that's likely road-driven like a Tacoma, where it leaves the driveway nose-low and ends up at its destination ass-low.. :lol:
 
I figured each corner in the front is about 1300lbs so I thought it would be ok. I want to go with coilovers but there are looking about $300 more. But still what is the difference in setting both of them up, do I still have to charge the coilovers with nitrogen and what spring rate do I use.
 
I had 2" ir shocks on my tacoma, but mine was a 4cyl, I assume yours is a 6cyl. The 2" shocks (racerunner) seemed to handle it fine not sure the pressure I had in them but I think it was ~275-300PSI, probably a little higher than most run them. It handled good on and off-road, just make sure to get GOOD shocks for the rear. I had Bilsteins in the rear and they were GREAT, put superlift softride's in the rear before I sold the truck and they rode like crap.

My Tacoma had a full cage, front bumper, custom built frame front and rear, so I feel for sure the front was as heavy if not heavier than a stock V6 truck front. Although I had no problems with the 2" shocks (or complaints), you might be better with a bigger air shock, that way if you add bumper/cage/winch you will be good to go.
 
Thanks for the input I still unsure how to set them up how do I get 300psi nitrogen in them where do I get that kind of pressure. How much oil do I use.
 
I think I am going with dual rate coilovers what compression valve and expansion valve do I run soft of stiff or medium? I think I am just confused.

Leave the valving alone.

You're gonna be chasing your ass if you don't get some accurate weights of each corner of your junk.
