how to tell the diff between toyota tcase

I am new to the Toyota world how can u tell if u have a top or forward tcase and I have a 79 Yoda

Topshift has the shifter coming out of the top of the tcase, forward shift have the rods going into th tranny and the tcase shifter is mounted on the tranny.

Your 79 is going to have a top shift case unless the trans and tcase have been changed.
