OK from my looking around i should look for a hp30 from 92-95 or 95-99?
My zj has 355 with cv in it now and it is busted.....(pos :poop:)

I will lift it high as 4-6" depening on cash
and prolly run 33s

What gears do i need along with this and for the rear should i grab the dana 44 out of a zj (5.2) or keep my 35 and gear it. The ford 8.8 is really out of my price range right now unless it could be made to work if i pulled it from a coil spring explorer

most all zjs are 3.73 and chances of finding that is slim, just get a stock front zj front w/out the cv's most 4.0l zjs have u joint fronts the 3.73 will help with the 33's
i'v never seen a coil explorer but i guess there may be one

my zj has 355s and all the ones ive looked at in zj are 355 as well. xjs are 373s and sumtimes 410s from my understanding. i want the hp dana cause it makes contact with the ring gear and it out of the way from damage. plus the better angle when lifted

I think the D44's in the ZJ's are undesireable for some reason, but I can't remember why. Maybe somebody else will chime in about that.

Spending any money on a D35 is a bad move. Save up to replace it.

The Dana 44a out of a zj is worthless. A stands for aluminum... Not the best with big tires and lockers.

If I'm not mistaken you want the Dana 30 from the 97-99 xj it is non vacuum and has tj size ujoints. A LP Dana 30 from a tj migh not be a terrible idea but if your looking for the best upgrade for the money find an HP.

thanks thats what i was needing to know. The 95+ xjs have the tj size u-joints and have the hp ring gear. both are plus in my book. the dana hp is 30% stronger stock then my lp30.

then i can swap wj kuckles and be set for 33s all day and not be worried to much. and yes the dana44a are trash they break under stock driving and light offroad my buddie informed me about this yesterday.

still unsure what to do about the rear-end as of yet. If i get a set of axles from under at xj say with 373s cant i just put the ring and pinion in my housing for my rear?

More research is needed

i rock 34s locked on a stock 92 xj hpd30. chromos and large u joints would secure that. it depends on how you drive. and just do an 8.8 swap. swapping axles from an xj to a zj requires basically the same work an 8.8 to zj does.

research research research

Unless you just got extra $$$ I wouldnt worry about a knuckle swap for 33s unless your racing ECORS or planning 35+ in the future.

35s are in the idea book. i was gonna build it off the truck and then put in under it and run 33s untill i can lift it high enuff for 35s. but then id prolly have to regear it anyways. no extra cash really needed foss is a good pull a part place. i can get a wj axle and a xj axle for about 126 each if i pull them.

on that xj u got oleblue what do you do in ur jeep?mud or trail ride or climb rocks?..... I live in the low lands here nothing but mudding and trails. sumtimes high rpms needed :)

I do all of the rock crawling at ure. however i dislike spinning tires. slow and in control is my game plan. yeah aussie and small ujoint shafts. it can work, but i do carry around extra shafts everywhere i go

ok im prolly gonna go pull one today. or two. will post photos the mins i get it home

All right i got a xj hp dana30 but with no axles in it :(. will zj u joint axles work in it? cause my buddie gave me has zj lp dana30

I've got some shafts....75$

Axles may work bur the zj and xj hubs want switch. You can get a coil 8.8 out of a mustang and some sport tracks not sure on the axle splines. And if your going with wj knuckles keep the wj hubs and get a f150 rear axle same lug may be a bit wider

yea thats what i was thinking but ive seen/heard ppl drilling out for the 5x4.5.... its a good thing i havnt bought my rims yet. 5x5 is the wj right?

How close are you to Greensboro? Greensboro U-pull had 10-15 XJ and Zj's two months ago. I got a complete HP30 rotor to rotor for $75. They also have several exploders out there with 3.73 geared 8.8's complete for $75.

Heck for the right price I would pull one and deliver it to you.

hell i got a ton of u pull it yards. i might roll up to greensboro and pull a few.
