Looking under neither a XJ I bought awhile back I now see that it’s a hp30 not just an d30. The problem from the axle that is in there is that the axle yoke seal is bad, the driver side shaft where it connects to the joint is break. Being a newbie on this ive yet to really look to see what the amount of damage there is. Wanting to know if dana 30 parts are the same as hp30. is it ever worth trying to repair the axle?? Do u think is has damaged me bearings or axle seals???

Thanks

if what you are refering to is the driver side axle shaft that drives that wheel then the fix is prob safe to say replace that shaft and hp/lp 30's will trade shafts. as for the pinion seal its not a job just need socket to remove the pinion nut a and be sure to get it back tight. first grab the front yoke to shake it if it has a bunch of play then your going to need pinion bearings and my be the cause of the seal leak.if its tight just replace that seal and refill oil.

yeah know all about the pinion seal, it went bad n a d35 out of my zj i have. it was alot easier/cheaper for me to just replace the whole axle it self. thinking im goin to do the same thing on this one.

it was cheaper and easier to replace the whole axle instead of a pinion seal?

i've got to know where you get your parts :D
