picked an 8 lug HP44 this weekend..... came with a hi steer arm for the passenger side..... question there is:
do i use studs or bolts to attach it??? what size? parallel with knuckle or pointed slightly in?? (see next question)

looking at getting an arm for the drivers side..... as you know the original steering arm attached to the flat top knuckle..... by the looks of it, bolting an aftermarket histeer arm there will make it point a little away from the tire (make sense?) is that the correct way to do it??? also, should i replace those studs or will they be ok to use if in good shape?

thanks in advance!

iirc, the studs for the high steer are 9/16", but you can do 5/8" too. also, you might want to post a picture, but if your pass knuckle isnt flat top, then you shouldnt mount high steer to it... and as far as where to mount the arm, there are bosses in the knuckle that are to be drilled...

most steering arms arent parallel to the knuckle face, they are bent into the center of the axle for clearance.... I would replace the studs, because they probably to tall or short; but if they are in good shape, you might can reuse them.
