I need some opinions!!!

Why would a tire like this not be okay on the trail??
Understandably, it might not do well on solid rocks, but besides that, what are the downfalls?

Any stories would be greatly appreciated!

I forgot to add......I would be running beadlocks.

Id say it'd probably be great on the trail. Depending on how soft the compound is will determine how good it is on the rocks, but it's got a good aggressive tread on there for sure. We want pics when you get them on! Oh and size, what size are they?

I have these 36's. sold the 37's since these are more agressive. Probly not the best but I got a herd of um for cheap. I might consider siping down the road. Very hard compound, tough to wear out. I might get something else later, but for now......decent.

From what I heard that is the problem, the compound is real hard......but i think in the mud and dirt that shouldn't be a huge draw back....right???

they are 36 x 12.50 x 16.5
6ply tread, and 4 ply sidewall
load rating C

Price is what atracted me.
4 brand new ones, not blems, $250.00. Never been mounted!

Worse thing said about them is the rim size. 16.5 is not the most desired sie if you plan on airing them down without beadlocks. But if you have beadloscks go for it, they seem to be a good tire for a good price.

I've seen 'em used on the road. They actually seem fairly soft, as far as the compound is concerned. The biggest problem my buddy has is the fact that they're bias, they flat-spot overnight. They round out in about three miles. He got the same deal you're looking at, and they were brand new. I think they'd do pretty well on the trail. For the price, it's worth a shot!

Yea basically its all about the rubber compound, they are harder, a good bit, and they can develop flat spots but thats no big deal at all i hardly get any with mine and If i do they go away very quickly. I run them on my Daily driver tow rig because they are the perfect agressive tow rig tire IMO. They are very stiff compound so they don't bulge when you load em down and they last a good long time on the pavement. I had some 35" BFG AT's C load range and they sucked they would bulge like crazy when you loaded em up. Plus another benifit of the hummer tire is they give me an agressive enough tread to be able to get in a kinda sticky situation and not worry bout getting stuck where a stock towrig with all terrain would. And of course best part is price.

Granted they arnt gonna do as well as say a irok/tsl/other heavy treaded off-road tire would but they arnt made to do all that. Most people buy them expecting way more outta them than they should simply because they are "hummer tires so they should be bad ass"

Remember hummers are heavy as fawk especially with the armour plating so they have to have the stiff compound.

All in all i say its a good tire, but don't buy them unless you realize your buying an agressive all terrain tire, not a full out mud terrain tire.

except these tires are not used on the armored trucks, they WERE used on the trucks that weighed about 5500-6000lbs. these tires are dirt cheap because the army no longer wants them. Same with the old 8 bolt rims. something about magnesium runflats not doing so well in a vehicle fire, and the decreased load range compared to the 37" radial.

Nice info!
I just don't understand one thing....even though it's a hard compound, why does it not do well in mud? The lugs on the outer edge are huge. I just can't understand how this tire could be outperformed by an irok with such little depth lugs....now I can understand the the irok would kick ist's @ss on rocks, but in mud and loose terain.....just can't see it.

I would say it's the solid center "rib". Groove that out totally, or at least cut it into "chunks". And groove away some of the tread blocks on either side of it to open up the pattern some. You are right that the side lugs are huge, but if the center of the tread is going to cake up with mud, then that will hurt the tire's performance in mud. Compare it to a Bogger and go for something similar. :D

there all over ebay, just search for hummer tires, Berg Tire in fayetville also has em out the butt

unfortunatly there's not much in the way of 16.5 wheels for a 6 lug pattern, but summit and 4wheelparts has new ones you can order, I believe the summit 16.5x9.75 was $60 a piece?

You could also get hummer rims from usa6x6 recentered with the 6 lug pattern or you can just order the new centers from usa6x6 and do it your self that way you can run hummer rims and have double beadlocks.

you can recenter the rim with the bolt pattern on your toyota truck. You just have to buy a new center from somewhere, not to difficult. as far as buying them as set if you want new ones i don't know where you can get them as cheap as Terrystako did. But last time i checked i could get 4 just about new ones with wheels for 400. I bought a set recentered them and then sold them. If you want the number for the guy pm me and i'll give it to you. I also think Gubni on here i believe sells them not positive about that. Not sure if it was this board or KYMC.ORG
