HVAC cap

Life hack.
Figure out which ones you need order spares from Amazon keep in closet,
Another cal will never pop again

I ordered one from Amazon and had it same day. I have an extra one if it'll work you're welcome to it.
Might get by with a large drum fan laid on top of the unit.

Thanks! But....

Crawled up under the house. Inside unit had red blinky-blinkys, which is not good. Went ahead and called The Man.

Fan cap tested good. Tested 24v signals. Nothing from inside unit. Seems the circuit board inside is kaput. He shorted it so I have stage I running. Hope it will keep up in the heat tomorrow. Be at least wednesday before he has parts. I am betting that the board has a 5 year warranty....we've been in the house 5 years and two weeks now. :(

I went to Lowes this evening and got a 30 amp breaker and rv outlet so I can at least plug in the camper and have a/c if needed. Been meaning to do that anyway.

I have 3 ac units here that are junked if you know the part you need post a pic i will see if they have what you need and if you are up to a road trip
to Harlan, Ky.

Update....a more senior tech came today to troubleshoot. Codes were reset, everything green. Board passed internal diagnostics. Error it was giving was a communications error.

Best we could figure, the tech on Monday night had disconnected many of the LV connections to meter them out and do some troubleshooting. One of them was maybe a bad connection, and when he put them back together, the problem was gone. For now, we are just going to see if it craps out again. No sense putting any parts in it if it's not broken.

The saga continues.... ran fine for a couple of days, then at 5pm yesterday noticed it was up to 80 inside. Not cooling again. Was ok overnight with tge windows open, so called first thing this morning. Tech came pretty quick (different guy). He also figured it was the control board in the inside unit. Replaced it, and still nothing. He is thinking it's the circ fan (12 step variable speed with its own control board), but doesn't want to just throw parts at it. He is having one of the "smart guys" come out hopefully later today and do some troubleshooting.

Hard to believe you built that house 5 years ago. Is it a trane? Sounds like it. You would hope they would have spare parts they can use for troubleshooting if they don't know how ecm motors operate

Ok, the smart guy figured it out....fan motor is fine. The tech that replaced the circuit board this morning forgot something....there is a plug-in personality chip that he was supposed to transfer from the old board to the new so the computer stuff knows what type your equipment is. He didn't, so system would not do anything at all. So, it was a bad board after all. Everything working as it should now.
