Ok, I am hoping someone on here can help us out a bit since we have some folks using hydro on trail rigs, etc.
Dad bought(traded his MasseyF for) a Kubota L185 DT (compact 4wd tractor)
Now he wants to add a front end loader, so we are looking at various used ones out there for the smaller tractors.
Question #1: The hydro pump on the tractor now says it is 3.7 gpm, it is used for the rear pto / 3pt hitch stuff. We could "tap" into it with pancake or something dad knows about, but he is afraid it will be too SLOW for the front end loader? Some folks say yes too slow, others not really/depends on size of shafts (1.5" quoted as fine for them)
Question #2 is, assuming the overwhelming answer to above is YES, too slow.. Option A is remove current pump and install faster one, any ideas on where you would find one, google search letting me down.
Option B, there is a crankshaft sticking out of the front of the end, 1" approx, and splined like an axle. "Crankshaft Pump" has been throw around before but for the life of me I cannot find one.
What I DO find (say northerntool website, 40+ pumps) is a bunch of them with a smooth bore sticking out with a "keyed" edge on it. Not something my spline would stick into (I would need a female/splined input I guess)
So am I crazy...does such a thing exist, or maybe I am supposed to run a pulley or something? Or a gear setup or...beats the heck outta me.
Would LOVE some help on this, any and ALL thoughts are welcome!!!
FINAL THOUGHT...PTO pumps are for the "rear" I believe and would involve removing or modifying the rear/pto area, driveshafts for our implements and such...not to mention dads PTO stops turning when clutch pushed in and that is not what you want for pump for a Front end loader (is what I am reading)
