Hey guys I'm about to mount my hydro assist ram. And I'm looking for pics of how you guys mounted yours??

I have a TJ with barns cross over steering...

Also does the ram act as a steering dampner as well?????

Thanks

On my last 1 ton jeep on 42s I mounted mine via tabs straight to the diff cover inline with the Axle housing and tabbed to an adjustable od tube clamp on the tie rod. I'll see if I can find pics. Yes it's a 1600(varies) psi steering damper.

Tabs on diff cover to tabs on tie rod
Tabs on frame to tabs on drag link
Tabs on axle tube to tabs on tie rod
Tabs on center of housing to tie rod

Plenty of ways to do it, really depends on room and packaging.

Is the stock diff cover on a d30 strong enough????

I'm worried about space on my set up

It may be easier with a fabbed one from Barnes4wd. It'll have a flat side to it that will allow a better means of welding tabs on

You could also look at attaching it where the stock steering dampener goes with the clamp on the tie rod. I have an aretec truss and it has a mount for it that is close to the same spot

If you don't want to spend extra $$$ on a diff cover then find another way to mount it. It will rip off the stock one pretty quick. I've seen them tear the front off of a Toyota pumpkin and those are a little bit thicker than a stock dana diff cover.

The one on my cab truck is a 2" style ram that you can buy at Northern Tool or Tractor Supply. It is mounted to the diff cover on one side and a tractor style joint welded to the tie rod on the other end. The bracket on the diff cover is heavily gusseted and so is the tractor joint on the tie rod. I can take more pictures if you like.

Do you use a cooler or a ressy??

Do you use a cooler or a ressy??

Run an automatic transmission style cooler.

No reservoir, but i did cut the filler neck off the pump housing and extend it with a large piece of hose i got from work.

Stock D60 cover on mine. Never had a problem.

Ewwww that looks grimey.

You could go from steering box to tie rod with some extra left for movement down tie rod zip tied to it to ram with extra left that way the lines are outta the way for the most part

Long enough that when you cycle your suspension your lines arent pulled tight

...and you don't want any extreme angles on the fittings. Plan for more hose, not less. I think my lines around 60" or so but they have nice sweeps and large diameter turns.
