Looks good...but a word of warning, the hf winch's brake isn't strong enough to sinch and hold the rearend. BTDT.

Thanks for the warning......I know..........but it will work for some stuff eh????
Also it says on the side of the winch that it doesnt have a brake.....

Possibly. It's really just a pita since it's not going to stay where you want it. Air shocks only compound the problem compared to coils also.

All I want to do with it is sit in my driveway and make my buggy squat and rise up.......thats not a PITA.......really....

maybe I should just beat the crap outta my Hummer rims like Mr nuts does...thatll make it all better for you eh?

Basically because coils are linear rate...while air shocks are progressive, and..you don't have any bumpstops to cinch against. I'm not in any way trying to be a dick..just trying to help. If you're just wanting the forced articulation look, then by all means go for it. And yeah we tried two hf winches and a ramsey...plus this topic was discussed pretty regularly at neuroc/uroc comps last season when those winches first came out and everyone had problems.

Basically, when you're bouncing up and down on a ledge with the winch in enough to keep the rear semi-solid...when the shocks decompress..there is much more than 2000lb of force.

OK i understand how springs work and for the last time....the winch does not have a "brake" of any kind so the "more than 2000lbs when decompressing" means nothing as it can unload at 100lbs........I bought that winch the same time that "this was being discussed at the Uroc comps" and I have been involved in the "numerous discussions on this board"...........not trying to be a dick but when you say "we" have used these and they havent worked......who is we?Im assuming once again that you are a buggy "builder"/driver/uroc competitor now?I am well aware of the downfalls of this winch,I appreciate your input, but please tell someone that: has never built a buggy, driven off road, been to eroc/uroc......etc........when I need advice I ask.........Braxton 357.......wohoo!

And fwiw, yeah they do actually have a brake. It just fucking sucks. And you did ask..
WHy do airshocks compund the problem?WHat is the "problem"?

But I'm also jumping to conclusions...are you planning on using this offroad, or is it just for looks and to play with in the driveway?

I have one on mine that will be used in conjuction with a limiting strap on the center of the axle, the only reason I'd use it would be to go down a steep grade to help the rear suspension from unloading. My buddy uses one for this purpose and it seems to work fine, yes there is a point where the brake releases. If you are using one as the only limiting source for the rear suspension and trying to climb ledges etc...beating on it, then yes it's a bad idea.

So that is for steep down hills right. I thought about getting some of those from Northern tool.

It does not have a brake, read the instructions and the side of the winch is Clearly marked no brake, not for lifting.............

as far as using it offroad..........come down to the playground this weekend and try to follow me.........im sorry I dont do Uwarrie as it poses no challange to my rig......come on down..........

I bought this winch over 2 years ago and its been sitting in my garage this whole time.I Havent run a limiting strap on the rear of my rig ever and I have had zero problems thus far with the rear suspension.I dont give two fucks if this works or not as I dont need it.It was for fun to put it on there and see how it works..........like I said....if I want advice I will ask for it......
