Well my rear end went. The pinion gear is wasted and the ring doesn't look good either. I was on pavement when it went out. Now that I have to do some work I might as well do it better. I would like to put 1 ton's under it. But can't afford different rims.(i have 6 lug). Any one have suggestions on what to do? Fix it or change it. As everyone one else is I'm on a budget. What would be a good set up. This is a pic of what I got now.

Change it. You can get a 14 bolt CHEAP! It may be hard to find one with the gears you need, but I would feel a lot better having a 14 bolt out back (if I were you), and I'd feel better about you having one for your safety.

Kinda like having lift blocks in the front, it just don't work! :shaking: (i know you dont, it's just an example)

I had a buddy that had a late 80's maybe early 90's 2500 chevy with a 6 lug 14 bolt. i also remember a magazine article a few years back where they swaped a 6 lug 14 bolt into a tahoe so they did not have to have 8 lug rear and 6 lug front. I don't know much about the 6 lug 14 bolt but maybe it would be an option.

The axle you are talking about "6 lug" is a semi float.

Do yourself a favor and grab a 14B full floater for a couple hundred bucks. And keep your eyes peeled in the parts section for some 8 lug wheels.

When your wallet catches up convert the front to 8 lug or get a D60.

a few years back a friend had a z71 with a 6 lug 14 bolt we beat the shit out of it with 37's and never a problem. also my fatherinlaw has a 88 2500 with a 6 lug 14 bolt he is not easy on trucks i have seen him back up and get a 30ft run pulling tractors out of mud. by looking at your pic im guesing that some spring wrap may have helped the destruction.

Full floater is definitly better. I figured the 6 lug was a semi floater, but I wasn't sure, so I did not want to give misleading info.
