I found a random NP tranny. Will it work?

I went to this old guy's junk yard/cow pasture today, and he had a New Process tranny with C-96391 AX-6 on it. I think it's an NP 435 but not sure. If it is I might try to get it (it was given to him) if it will work in my '72 Jeep J2000. Any Ideas? Here's the photobucket link.

Do you have any pics of the tranny? If it is out, you can spin the input in first gear and count the revs of the output to find ratio. I think NP435 is like 6.69 first gear?

should have an aluminum top.

I looked up the tranny adapter and it's over $500! I know where i can get a whole truck for 400 with a t18 that'll bolt right in. might go with that unless there's a cheaper way. I know it's only slightly lower than a t18, but that would be sweet )

NP435's have 2 different bolt patterns for the t-case adapter. The older style was with a Dana 20 t-case and the bolt holes are closer where as the later adapter from a NP205 will not bolt up without drilling and tapping. Without pics, that's about all I have to add...

Only reason to use that is if you are gonna go to a drivers drop front axle. Otherwise t18 would be better but stuck with a d20 or a 500 dollar adapter.

yeah, I think I might eventually go with the T18. Still gotta get tires anyways. Just some 31's that'll roll
