It really wouldn't be a hard job.
First you would need to remove all the furniture. probably hang some plastic to shield the dust.
Start by removing all of the trim. Molding top and bottom, door casing, and start with a pry bar taking down all the wall facings. The bigger the piece you take down the easier to haul it out. if you wired it, when you are left with only studs showing is when you will want to "unwire" it.
Now comes the hardest part. Filling in the gap between the two rooms in the floor. Have a saw waiting to start cutting.
T get it ready for kids Monday morning is feasible, but stay away from the beer, and have someone to help that will work not talk.
