I need a Lawyer:

Well I got the Jeep back on Wed. and the front end looks GREAT!!! Now all I have to do is wait for the idle pulley bracket so I can install the belt; the tension bolt is rusted/gummed up and resulted in breaking the head off oops. This morning I replaced the return line for the tranny (it had a tiny leak) and the radiator hose. Once the new bracket comes in everything will be done on it and I just have to wait for the money to get a lift, armor, and wheels/tires. Keffer Collision did an awesome job on the repairs and paint so I highly recommend them to anyone that needs collision repair and you live around Charlotte.

lawyer

George Laughren in Charlotte can pretty much get somebody off of a murder charge so I don't see why he couldn't help you with a hit and run. Many of my friends have used him for speeding, wreckless driving, DUI's etc.
Ditto on him.
he helped me on a speeding ticket..he's helped a few of my friends as well.
good luck and glad your family is ok

So it sounds like you did the tranny line, radiator hose, and idler pulley yourself. I would turn in the receipts to the insurance company. Doesn't matter if these needed done before the accident. They were prompted to be done now because of the accident. The worst they can say is no we are not paying for this.
Glad everyone is Ok and you have your vehicle back with out no real expense out of pocket. Could have been worse, having to replace the Jeep.
I lost 2 vehicles this past spring, both my 19yr old daughters fault. One we had full coverage on & the other we didn't. I figure it cost me about $2500 including the deductible + now I have a $600 month car payment on a 08 FJ Cruiser.

On a similar topic - I'm curious how many/if any folks have extra liability coverage besides the standard minimum required by the state, in maryland it's only 20/40/10 (personal injury indiv/total and personal property).
In many cases you can very easily exceed this amount, like above - $10k wouldn't cover most newer cars. That's the max payout from your insurance company, above that you're left owing the rest and are liable to get sued.
I've never bothered until recently, the accident I was in (admitedly caused) in Jan cost $26k total, 2 cars totaled, another damaged and a (minor) hospital visit. That got me thinking about it.
In my case, I have the (unfortunately) honor of the title "Dr" - people see that and see dollar signs... too bad they don't realize it's not a "real doctor", just PhD and I make beans, less than many teachers here... but that leaves me the potential target for excessive lawsuit. I found out it was only a fraction more expensive to up it to like 100/300/50 or something.

I actually stumbled upon this forum randomly while trying to get George Laughren's info for a friend but I worked in the insurance industry for 5 years so I wanted to elaborate on some of the excellent points that RatLabGuy brought up.

100/300/50 is the bare minimum coverage I would recommend for anyone. I personally carry 500/500/250. One of the most important reason to have such great coverage, aside from protecting your assets in the event of being responsible for an accident, is that most insurance companies won't let you increase your uninsured and underinsured bodily injury limits beyond your liability limits.

Basically, you can't purchase more protection for yourself than you can protection from you for other people. Being that many drivers, especially in this economy, are looking for the cheapest insurance possible, many are unaware of how important it is to have good coverage and purchase only the NC state minimum (that he was right about) of 30/60/25.

A lot of people say "Well I'll just sue them if my bills exceed the limits of their policy." People have to own things for you to sue them and chances are they don't have much if they're riding around with shit for insurance. The most you can hope for is a judgment against someone and North Carolina doesn't garnish wages so you're much better off protecting yourself by purchasing good coverage.

It doesn't cost as much as you think and you'll thank me if you ever need to use it. I haven't sold insurance in years and I had no incentive to take the time to write this- I've just heard too many horror stories over the years about people not having enough insurance and you don't want to find yourself in that situation.

Another thing that most people don't know about insurance is that shopping around every 6 months is definitely not the best way to get the best price. Insurance companies look at the long term value of a customer and will reward customer loyalty with lower rates. The way to get the best price with most companies is to have been continuously insured with your current insurance company for 5+ years before shopping around. And never, NEVER go without insurance- even for a day.

Good luck with everything!
