I need advice

86 4Runner starts good! Give gas starts cutting out ? Feather the paddle about half trottle runs good? Put in drive starts cutting out an stalling? Thanks for any advice to help!

check fuel pressure at rail. if insufficient it will do what you say it is doing

Check to see if you have any codes in the pcm go with those first, Next if no codes check for a loose connection @ your MAF/MAF wire and sensor dirty.If all checks out go to a local exhaust shop and have the exhaust backpressure tested for a stoped up converter.

or simply take the upstream o2 sensors out and see if it runs better.

I had a dodge ram that did the same thing I went through the whole fuel and ignition system with no luck so I changed my o2 sensors and the problem went away. It never once threw a code either. Kinda sucks having to throw parts at a problem you dont know what it is but hey new stuff is always good to have.

Tune up. I hear that all the time start with the simple stuff. Cap and rotor.

Fuel pump strainer? That little sock will get clogged up and not let the pump pull enough. Typically, it will idle fine and throttle up with no load with a little sputtering. Usually after you drive about 1/2 mile, the fuel pressure starts to drop and it will start cutting out.
