I need to understand cams much better. Is there a site that explains what duration, lift, etc., means and how they work to produce the desired result?

There's a number of engine related articles that are published in magazines comparing cam specifications, what each of them do, and how they affect one another when one change is made. These articles can be found pretty easily with some specific searches. I can help look, if you know sort of what you're looking for.

I've built a few race engines, so if you have some specific questions (or a specific goal in mind) feel free to shoot your inquiry. I'll either pitch what I know, or find some supporting information and post up a link.
