so i have a 90 yota truck that evidently at one time had a sun roof and at some point the PO had the great idea to take it out and weld a patch on the inside and bondo the top....so over time the bondo has of course cracked up and now leaks....so im trying to think of an inexpencive way to fix this and still be cool.....i was thinking maybe like a canvas top or something with snaps to hold it around the edges...but i want it to hold the water out....im open to all ideas...preciate it

go to your local body shop supply house and get some good seam sealer. You can sand it down and paint over it. That would be the most cost effective and cool way!

A canvas top could work IF you make it big enough to where the snaps are along the angled sides of the roof, not just the flat part. This especially goes for the front.
Reason being, that when you drive at any speed, it wil lwant to catch wind under there and pull them off, but if it is angled teh wind will go up th fabric instead of under it. This is also important for keeping rain out. Maybe a strip of weatherstripping behing teh snaps would help too.
Also depending on the size of the hole you are left with, you may need to devise some kind of a support bracket/flat bar to go across the middle, to support the canvas - at highway speeds there may be alot of downward force pushing it in on your head (maybe not too, I dunno).
But IMO that would be pretty fly.

Easiest thing is to sand it down and put in more bondo until it is smooth coat over the whole thing again. Then a good sealer primer, paint...and it really should not be leaking.

Next choice...buy flat sheet of metal and weld it over the entire surface at the edges. Then bondo/clean that up, prime / paint and done forever...

Final option, buy a BIGGER sunroof, install it...

Bonus Round option...hack off entire roof, remember the mini truck fad in 80s where they turned them into convertibles? Add a decent rollcage...and a standard Jeep bikini top and call it done.

Fiberglass it from the top and feather the edges a couple inches past where the hole was. Fiberglass should hold up a lot better than bondo. Should be cheap and esay to do.

thanks for all the help.... but yeah i was wanting to do something that youve never seen before on a yota
