Found out yesterday that my 2015 JKU has a cast aluminum alloy frame. Jeep doesn't want people to know this yet, so it's painted over and they don't advertise it.

This is what a guy at the gas station told me, his brother is an engineer at Jeep.

Must be true.

Jeep has been looking for ways to convert to aluminum. They have gone back and forth since 2014 on whether or not to make an all aluminum jeep. So far the latest decision is that the body will be all aluminum.

The frame was going to be aluminum as well but the folks at the Toledo plant flipped their lid because they'd be out of work while the plant was retooled to handle aluminum builds.
 
Was the guy's name Cliff Clavin?
