I quit!

Congrats!! Great job to have.

Stupid question I know...but I'll ask anyway. How computerized have the pump panels gotten? Or all they all still mostly knobs and handles and gauges.

Here's the pump panel on my first out. Our new one will be more traditional with actual levers, but I think some discharges will still be electric. Virtually every major pump manufacturer uses an electronic pressure governor instead of a throttle cable and true relief valve.

Well it's official I'm out of the full time hardwood flooring business! I'll be starting my new full time job in mid February as an Engineer for Maiden Fire Dept! Just got word today to be in HR Friday! I'll still be doing floors on my days off but it will no longer be my main income!
Congrats!!! Best job ever... been paid now for 12 years... work 10 days a month... kinda work a side job building houses on my days off. If I want too...it’s a great job. Hope you do well at it

As stated above, the 2 new trucks are pressure regulated govenors. All 2 1/2 and larger discharges are electric valve. Makes it a little harder to gate down to an exact pressure but not really a concern. The worst part in my opinion its the fact that they have thermal pump switches that will shut the truck down if the pump overheats. I would rather burn up a pump than firefighters in a house. We also have one truck that would shut down and go into regen when it wanted to but it has been bypassed now.

Heres a pic of our first out. All of ours are set up pretty similar. But I dont know who the idiot driving is

And yes, the cross lays look pretty rough. Drives me up the wall sometimes...

So I don't technically start until mid February but I'm finding it very hard to go to work this morning. Yesterday consisted of going to the dump, running down a couple bills and working on a project at my house while my help worked on sanding a floor. Today isn't looking much easier on him!

What kind of schedule will you be working?

Duane

What schedule does Charlotte use and what is a modified schedule? We do on/off/on/off/on/offx4 here.

Duane

We do modified LA schedule. Work/off, work/off off, work/off, work/off for 4 days... I could never go back to a Monday-Friday job lol

Also known as this^^^^^

Not too different from us. I'd definitely like it better than 24/48. Four days off is nice. The only other schedule I'd be interested in would be 48/96 or 24/72 if the department had four shifts.

48/96 was discussed but I wouldn't want to be there 48 straight. 24/48 it's still better than M-F 9-5!
