I really want to do it...

guess you haven't seen diesel prices lately :)

GOOD GOD!! that chick/thing in the first video was absolutely busted. :vomit:

Have you actually researched it more than what the videos say?
Yep, and I decided to not believe the hype. Will it run off of WVO? Yep. But I decided that I value my uber-expensive 7.3L diesel engine in my F-350 too much to go that route. A guy I know who is a diesel mechanic says that you wouldn't believe the number of vehicles he sees coming in with severe and expensive to fix issues with their fuel systems, often caused by WVO or even bio-diesel. I need my tow rig to be reliable, no way I'm running that garbage through it.

Now on the other hand if I had a beater VW like those hippies were driving I'd say it's worth a shot for a DD. I'm just not willing to risk my tow rig over it.

There is a CJ at the shop that has a 4bt in it. This thing is show quality. It has 4 link front and rear with coil overs. I am going to get some pics this weekend.

When Rudolf Diesel invented the diesel engine, he intended it to run on peanut oil. It was the oil freaks that decided it should run on "diesel fuel" instead.
Some will say he intended for unrefined hempseed oil to power it instead...

He also invented the diesel engine before the IC automobile, electronic injection pumps, Common rail diesels, and youtube.

My main point earlier was that diesels are awesome, but even if you do a swap and go biodiesel or WVO...you will never make up the cost in the life of any jeep. Not to mention, wvo isn't nearly as plentiful as some people make it seem:confused:

But, diesel tj's are cool. If you've got the money, go for it.

If you want to help the environment and save some money, dd a civic.:flipoff2:

Yeah, those hippies pointed that out too. It's true. It also has absolutely no bearing on the issue at hand. Just because the original diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil doesn't mean that it's a healthy alternative for any modern computer controlled turbo diesel. The main problem with WVO, and bio-diesel too for that matter, is that there is no standard for it. You get pretty much what you get. The diesel fuel you buy at the pump is subject to a plethora of regulations and standards which pretty much ensures repeatable quality fuel no matter where you're getting it from. You can't say that for WVO or bio-diesel. I've seen situations where non-standard fuels eat fuel system seals, clog up injectors, cause HPOP's to die, trash flexible fuel lines, etc. Like I said, if you have a vehicle that needs any degree of reliability you'd be wise to steer clear. If you're looking for a cool project vehicle that might save you a few bucks in fuel, then go for it.
