Like the title says I want to start a club in WNC. Preferably around Asheville. It's a central location and everyone knows where it is. It also has places to eat and drink beer.

I figure we could hang out once per month and ride when we felt like it. The only request I have is that we particpate in land use issues aka saving our trails and join SFWDA. I think every club should be involved really. I left a club because all they wanted to do was drink and wheel. I then left another club because I had to move back to NC and now I'm clubless :(

No, I don't have a catchy club name but I figure whoever wants to join up can and we'll go from there. First meeting will be in July.

Any takers?

A couple thoughts

1. might want to wait a while for a meeting, with vacation season upon us there are sure to be folks that want to be there but can't due to vacations planned.

2. Contact SFWDA and find out what their requirements are. I know there are dues each year, for every member, and also a deadline as to when to have those moneys in. This basically requires a club such as you describe to have yearly dues.

3. get some discussion up on here, and other web sites, but don't limit potential members to just web folks. Most newspapers have areas you can post stuff for free to get the word out.

yeah i figured we'd just meet up and see what kind of turn out we had. it is true we have a lot of vacation this time of year but I figured I'd get the ball rolling. I agree with not just web folks but it is one of the best resources to use as far as communication.

as for Southern, we used to pay our dues each year just like you would a regular member. It had to be in by such and such date and that's all it took. if i remember correctly

I'd be down....Several of us were talking about this the other day, but we didn't know how to get started!

One of my really good friends started a club at WNCU called the WNCGOB's (Western North Carolina Good Ol' Boys) were they would wheel and have monthly cookout for all members to attend for free. didnt last long but was a great idea. and had a catchy name i dont think he would mind you using it i could ask though.
