wish we had photos, but trees are down everywhere down here in 'The Valley' My neighbors z71 truck was mashed flat by 2 big pines. We've been using chain saw and back hoe to get that mess cleaned up.

4 Trees down making our road impassable. Again, more chain saw and back hoe action.
Sure did seem like a lot of work.

and last but not least...We had two tall pines leaning over the power lines at my house..the lines were really starting to stretch, and the power co. said it could be hours before they could respond. We have NOT lost power, but were scared that it would'nt be long before we did. Soooo...we got out the big gun( M1A / .308) and 7 shots later those trees were not a problem anymore.

Man... I miss rural NC.

Yea, Ice sucks unless it's cooling a frosty beverage. I heard a loud racket an hour or so ago from the heat pump, went out and found ice and icicles inside all around the top of the opening of the unit. The fan was grinding away at the ring of ice and one of the blades is curled over at the edge.

Im sure any high power rifle will work. .308, .30-30, .30-06, 35, 7mm mag, etc. If your a good shot, Im sure a .45 from your favorite 1911 would do the trick too.

You cant do that with those wimpy ar's that shoot 223/556. Its great to go to the range and whip out my 308 FAL and watch all the others with their poodle shooters feel so inadequate.

Have you ever rapid fired .308 hunting rounds at a red clay ditchbank? Did that w a HK years ago, dirt destruction :poop: :sniper:

Hmm... would a .458 magnum suffice? Maybe a little over kill.

I do have a really nice .308. If we ever get a bad ice storm around here, I'm gunna try out that trick with shooting the trees. Sounds like a lot of fun :sniper:

So did you shoot the tree down or the ice off the tree?

The trees were bowed across the lines, with the base of the trees to the left and the rest hanging on the right of the lines..we shot about a foot to the right of the lines..just a couple shots and the trees broke perfectly, with the ''tops'' falling to the right of the line and the base RAPIDLY springing right back up straight.

Might sound a bit sketchy, but I bet money the power company could not have been more efficient, faster, or safer.....plus the coolness factor was off the charts:D

I thought the 5.3 was a 327?

But the google just told me it was a 325, which I disagree with because 327 sounds much cooler and has much more history.

So that being said there have been a metric shit ton of Z71's built with the 5.3L since 99. So, I believe it could be a 327(5.3) in that truck.

yep...thats what it is, a 325 or 327ish. truck is a 99 or 2000 model, I forget which.

Been without power since 2am friday morning. This ice sucks!

5.3 is something like a 325. Give or take.
